The J120 is a real dual purpose 40 foot, 8 berth, asymmetric yacht; great to cruise but competitive when racing under IRC. J Fever is very well equipped, has a successful racing record with JOG (winner overall offshore trophy for Class 1 in 2021 and 2022), and has been adapted and refined over more than two decades by the current owners, to convert easily between racing and cruising modes. Cruises have included N and S Brittany, most of the Irish coast, and the UK west coast from the Solent to Orkney.
J Fever has been well maintained throughout her life, with new standing rigging by Performance rigging Hamble Point Marina in 2019. She has a full sail inventory, mainly from OneSails, and substantial amount of cruising and racing equipment (please see the "More Details" section below where some of the more noteworthy items e.g. fuel cell and liferaft are listed). Full specification, inventory and details are available from Key Yachting, Hamble Point Marina.
UK VAT paid.
The comfortable but flexible fit-out allows ample and accessible storage for boat's gear and crew's personal kit when cruising or racing, with three dedicated bag racks forward and retaining nets enabling the pilot berths to be used similarly when not occupied. Behind the saloon seatbacks, lined cupboards are individually accessible regardless of whether or not the pilot berths are in use (seat backs raised); the foc'sle pipecots allow sail storage and crew accommodation to be combined, and raise up to create good working access to sails when at sea; and the under-counter fridge with drawers in the galley keeps the countertop available as well as providing easy access to its contents. Smaller details include effective use of bright and energy efficient LED lighting in a choice of red or white, galley cupboard fittings made to to match the full crew's worth of quality plastic crockery, and multiple pouches for personal essentials (phones, sunglasses, suncream etc) adjacent to berths.
When cruising (see first picture), the current owners have carried a three-part nesting rigid tender, duogen wind/towed generator, lazy jacks and split drum headsail furler, sturdy lightweight composite cockpit table, and sprayhood. There is also a removable anchor chain locker which fits between the saloon table and mast, close to J-Fever's centre of gravity, and associated winch which clamps securely to the mast above at a good working height, for the duration of the cruise. All of this is easily removable for racing, and when fitted turns her into a capable and versatile platform for cruising.
