  • Introducing the Electric Hydrofoil Jet Ski of the Future

Introducing the Electric Hydrofoil Jet Ski of the Future

Could this be the PWC of the future? Created by marine engineers in Slovenia, the Quadrofoil is a catamaran-like vessel with four C shaped hydrofoils that allow it to glide above the water’s surface.

The Quadrofoils unique body shell weighs just 100kg, meaning the vessel can be propelled forwards at a top speed 21 knots via 8.9kWh of pure electrical energy (via a combination of 3.7kW electric motor and a 5.2kWh battery pack. It's not only impressive speed that makes the Quadrofoil a desirable vehicle - the electric motor can run one a single charge for 2 hours or 62 miles. With such fuel efficiency, it can be run at around 80p per hour. The hydofoils also make for a smooth and quiet ride with low emissions, making it preferable for exploring remote areas with natural wildlife.

Unlike a jet ski, the Quadrofoil’s passenger is properly seated behind the driver in an intricately designed cockpit, giving them better views and a more secure ride. However, the jewel in the Quadrofoil’s crown is its steering wheel. The vessel not only has an integrated steering system to minimise drifting, the steering wheel also acts as the vehicle’s ignition key and a touchscreen dashboard. The digital interface allows you to adjust your comfort and driving specs, view journey details and start the vessel altogether.

The first 100 Quadrofoils will be available to the public for at €22,500 (£17,586) from March next year. However, a slower but cheaper version is also due for release next summer.
